Social Media Niche Platforms Are Beneficial

Discovering your marketing niche is beneficial to your marketing campaign planning. A niche is a specific group that is in your target audience. Understanding your niche assists you to better target your niche audience. In part of a social media campaign is discovering and using niche platforms. More and more social media users are beginning to expand their social media use to niche social media platforms. Niche platforms provide users the ability to see and discuss a specific interest with other users.

Niche platforms are better as users know going to the platform focused on a niche will provide them with that specific information. The large social media platforms that are dominating the social media platform market, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are all very broad topics that include information on multiple topics. Users can find multiple posts and topics in their feed. Unlike a niche platform that only provides the same topic in the post feed for the social media user.

Why focus on a niche platform?

There are hundreds of niche platforms. You can discover them all in an article from convert with content. When focusing on a niche platform that is the same as your niche audience it is a new way to engage and interact with them. Users on a niche platform are using the social platform to learn more or to discuss the topic they are interested in. By focusing on these niche platforms’ marketers, social media managers, brand managers, etc. can assist the company to reach their target audience even more so than typical social media platforms.

How can focusing on a niche platform benefit a brand’s social media strategy?

When a brand focuses on a niche platform, they are reaching their niche audience. It also assists them to reach new social media users as, “People are sick of algorithms, sick of News Feed manipulation, in some cases sick of mood manipulation.” (The Ringer)More social media users are spending less time on large platforms of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to spending more time on niche platforms. Social media users are also willing and do use multiple social media platforms. Users have different social media platforms downloaded onto their phone.

Sony is partnering with Discord to include the platform in its’ PlayStation gaming system. Discord is a social media chatting app for gamers to use. The goal of the partnership is to provide users of both brands a better user experience. Users of Discord will be able to access their account on their PlayStation and not have to try to play video games and access Discord on their phone. The partnership will give Sony the ability to reach Discord users. Some users of Discord play games on the competitor video game platforms. The partnership may lead to customers of the competitor wanting to switch to Sony’s video gaming system to get a better experience of using Discord.
